Drinking Water to Lose Weight

Have you heard about drinking water to lose weight?

With all of today’s weight loss strategies, pills, supplements, workout routines, and diets, you would think there would at least be one weight loss plan that works for everyone.

Believe it or not, one of the best strategies for losing weight is found right in your kitchen; water. Many people who are trying to lose weight are told to drink more water on a daily basis.

There are several benefits of adding a couple more glasses of water into your diet.

Water is filling; drinking a glass of water before meals or in place of a snack can help keep your appetite at bay.

Also, consuming ice water can lead to calorie burning, as chewing the ice and digesting the water burns calories while you do nothing.

However, for one reason or another, there are several reasons leading to the under-consumption of water in a healthy diet. Some people do not like the taste of water, or burn out on the taste rather quickly.

Other people say that they require other beverages in order to survive the long day (tea, coffee, soda). This is a poor excuse, as low-calorie sweeteners or other healthy mixes can be added to a glass or bottle of water. drinking water to lose weight So how much water should we drink per day? Many nutritionists and dieticians suggest drinking eight 8-ounce glasses of water daily. While this is the average amount, it is not the ideal amount that should be consumed.

Rather, take your weight, and divide it in half. This number reveals the number of ounces of water that should be drank on a daily basis.

While 20% of the water is said to be ingested via food, subtract 20% of the amount shown by half your weight and you have the total number of ounces to be consumed per day. This would be the ideal amount of water for your body.

Need some tips on drinking more water? Here are a couple ways you can introduce more water into your body daily:

  • First thing in the morning, immediately after you wake up, pour a glass of water and chug it down.

  • Drink another glass slowly while preparing for the upcoming day ahead of you.

  • Before eating anything, drink a glass of water. This will result in more water intake and a smaller appetite.

  • Keep a large water bottle next you at all times.

So there you have it, a great plan to help keep you full, keep you hydrated and keep the weight off!
