How I want to change my life
by Joyce
(Flintstone Georgia)
I have been very overweight for over half my life and the school that I work with took part in a biggest loser just between the schools. I did it on just a whim but I started making little changes and saw little changes. Then in April I joined a gym and things really started changing. I have a great trainer and she motivates me. I want to live a healthier and longer life so I am trying to really do this.

My Teenage Years
by Dominic Albano
(Albany, NY )
I was an anorexic. I wouldn't eat. When I did eat I would eat less than one hundred calories a day with working out. After being hospitalized, I received outpatient therapy and I started seeing a nutritionist. It didn't help. What did help was when I told my 10th grade science teacher about everything that was happening in my life with my anorexia. I found out she was bulimic. Now she's a successful runner and bodybuilder. She recommended weight lifting to me. She also said with weight lifting I'd have to eat way more. So I put my trust in her after a few months of still not eating, I slowly started eating more. Since then I've gain 11 pounds and and and am training for my first bodybuilding competition, hopefully within the next five years. I ran my first 5K too, coming in 15th place. At times it is still hard to eat, but I force myself to.

What Works For Me
by Carolyn
I've probably been on every diet out there in my quest to lose weight, low-carb, low-fat, you name it. I would always lose a few pounds on the diet, but just a few weeks later I'd gain them back. The problem was I never liked exercise. It wasn't until I came to the conclusion that I had to exercise along with the diet that I finally kept the weight off. I started running in a park nearby. In the beginning I could only run about 1/8 mile before being exhausted, but I kept at it. I guess I was more out of shape than I thought. The motivation comes from the fact that I'm finally losing weight and keeping it off. It's been almost a year now and I'm planning to run my first 5K in a couple weeks. Just my 2 cents, but for me, exercise is what finally helped me lose weight.

Losing Weight Gave Me Back My Life.
by Tracey Hunter
(Vallejo, CA, US)
I'm a forty five yr. old female who suffered from juvenile diabetes. When I reached thirty eight my life fell apart. I had four strokes and had renal failure. I was on hemo dialysis for a yr. I received an kidney and a pancreas transplant from an cadaver, which changed my life for the absolute best. But I gained a whopping 80 pds from taking anti rejection pills Prednisone. I did everything to take off the excessive pounds but nothing work. Then I saw this magazine while I was standing at the check out line in the grocery store, it read walk your pounds off and a diet plan. I worked those pounds off and started to shed 7 pds, the first week I was on the diet. I lost the 80 pounds and I feel great.
